If you like a challenge, you’ll love this. Grab 3 of your friends and enter your team of 4 to a 25 mile challenge that ends at Gilwell Park with a celebratory barbecue. If you can’t make a team, or would like to go it alone, don’t worry, we accept individual registrations too. By taking the Great Step Forward with us, you’ll help raise money to open a museum at Gilwell Park. With your help we can share the history of Scouting with future generations. If you’re a volunteer, you can send 40% of your fundraising to your local Scout group.

Who can enter?

Participants must be 16 or over. 

When is it?

Saturday 20 July 2019.

How much?

You’ll need to raise a minimum of £250 per person and entry fee is £29 per person.

What do I receive?

The registration fee includes:

  • joining pack, including a free t-shirt
  • fully signposted route
  • medical and logistical assistance
  • fundraising support and materials
  • three break stops with free drinks and snacks
  • Gilwell 100 medal with goodie bag
  • support during your fundraising journey
  • free entry to our afternoon celebration, with a BBQ and entertainment

What is the minimum age to participate?

The minimum age to take part in this event is 16.

Is 4 the maximum team number? 

There is no minimum or maximum number, however, each member must raise a minimum of £250. 

I’m taking part with a team, do we all have to raise the minimum fundraising amount?

Yes, you will need to raise the minimum fundraising amount of £250 for each member of your team. You can, however, choose to split the total in any way you like between the team if some people are comfortable raising more than others. 

Can I take part as an individual?

If you’re unable to form a team of 4, don’t worry! We can assist in placing you within a team of fellow individual registrants.

Why is there a minimum fundraising amount?

To help us reach more young people with the magical story of Scouting. We use our registration fees to help create a great experience that everyone can enjoy. We therefore set a fundraising target so you can support Scouting and leave a lasting legacy at Gilwell Park. Click here to find our more about the Gilwell Park museum. 

When do registrations close?

Event registrations close at 17:00 GMT on Friday 7th June 2019.
