Categorised in: County Commissioner's BlogYou do not need me to tell you that 2020 has been an unprecedented year for us all. We started in January looking forward to badges being earned, hikes being walked, nights being camped and the weekly routine of section nights. After the national lockdown came into effect in mid March I was amazed by the way that you ensured that these things carried on, albeit in different ways! Thank you to every leader and supporter involved in keeping Scouting in Solihull going for our young people.
The year has also been tinged with sadness though with the loss of several dear Scouting friends. We have not been able to come together to celebrate their lives, but that time will come.
As Christmas approaches we look forward to 2021 and the promise of vaccines and the new normal. This will include our way of delivering Scouting for a little while longer with a blended approach of online and face to face activities. But fingers crossed for more hiking, camping, normal weekly meetings and yes, lots of badges.
So I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you again for everything you’ve done, everything you continue to do and everything you will do for our Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers, and for each other. I wish you and your families all the very best for the Christmas and the New Year period and I do look forward to seeing you soon.
