Current International Events That Solihull is Going To
The 24th World Scout Jamboree will be an adventure beyond anything you can imagine. It is to be hosted jointly between Boy Scouts of America, Scouts Canada and the Scout Association of Mexico.
The UK Contingent will be made up of participants, their unit leaders, International Service Team and a Contingent Management and Support Team.
Participants must be born between 22 July 2001 and 21 July 2005.
When and where?
The Jamboree will take place on 22nd July – 2nd August 2019 at The Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve in West Virginia
The 2018 Roverway will be an incredible European adventure for all 16 – 22 year olds. It will be hosted by Scouting Nederland and is organised by the European Scout Region of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) and World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS).
When and where?
From the 23rd July to the 2nd August 2018, it will take place in the Netherlands. Over 3,000 participants (aged 16 – 22) from over twenty countries will participate in the Roverway.
The participants will be divided into UK Patrols ahead of the event. They will be encouraged to meet regularly and take part in practice camps and gain camping skills in addition to a Night’s Away permit. The patrols will then form international teams called ‘Tribes’.

Solihull sent 11 young adults (aged 18 to 25) to Iceland in the summer of 2017, where they explored the whole of Iceland, while having adventures with new international friends. Read more here
We were able to send a Unit of young people with their leader to Japan, to take part in the world Scout Jamboree with over 35,000 young people from around the world. At the Jamboree the they were able to experience diffrent culture, take part in activities and make new friends from around the world.

The 22nd World Scout Jamboree took take place from 27 July to 7 August 2011 in Kristianstad, Sweden. With over 40,000 Scouts from 146 countries in attendance, this was the biggest World Scout Jamboree in the history of World Scouting.
21st World Scout Jamboree, Essex 2007
It was held in July and August 2007, and formed a part of the Scouting 2007 Centenary celebrations of the world Scout Movement. The event was hosted by the United Kingdom, as 2007 marked the 100th anniversary of the founding of Scouting on Brownsea Island. We were able to send a whole Unit (39 young people + 5 Leaders)
The event was held for 12 days between 27 July and 8 August, in Hylands Park, Chelmsford, Essex. This site was selected because of the easy access to air and sea transport, and it is also near Gilwell Park, an important campsite and training centre for Scout Leaders.
Over 38,000 Scouts and leaders from 158 countries camped for the event, while over 50,000 others attended for day visits. There were also over 8600 members of the International Service Team, who also came from all over the world, with 40+ coming from Solihull.
