1st Shirley Celebrates 100 years

As part of their 100th birthday celebrations, 1st Shirley Scout Group invited the Mayor of Solihull, Mrs Flo Nash, to unveil a plaque to commemorate the event.

She was piped into the Headquarters by the Shirley Pipe band, was welcomed by the current GSL Tony Fitzgerald and took part in a flag break before unveiling the plaque.

The event was attended by Group members, both old and current including 4 GSL’s.  Displays from each section of the group plus several items of memorabilia were on display.

After the unveiling of the plaque a special cake, which included a neckerchief and a copy of the Groups 100th birthday badge both made from icing, was formally cut by the oldest and the youngest member of the Group.
